SAL Logistics and Tibah Airports Sign Agreement to Develop New Air Cargo Station at Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Medina

Medina, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, March 21, 2024 – Under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Governor of the Medina Region, and in the presence of His Excellency the Minister of Transport and Logistics, Engineer Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser, and His Excellency the President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation,

Mr. Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Duailej, SAL Logistics Services Company and Tibah Airports have signed a landmark agreement to establish and develop a new air cargo station at Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Medina. The signing ceremony, which took place today, also saw attendance from several leaders in the air transport industry.

The 16-year joint agreement aims to significantly increase the air cargo capacity at the airport by developing a new facility spanning up to 7,500 square meters. The new air cargo station will ensure the provision of high-quality and efficient air cargo handling services.

The agreement was signed by Mr. Faisal Al-Bedah, Managing Director and CEO of SAL, and Engineer Sufyan Abdul Salam, CEO of Tibah Airports. Under the contract, SAL will invest over 12 million riyals in the establishment and development of the new air cargo building. This investment will include the latest equipment and technologies for ground handling of shipments, adhering to international best practices to enhance operational efficiency and improve customer experience.

Mr. Faisal Al-Bedah commented on the occasion, stating, "The signing of this agreement in the blessed city of Medina reaffirms SAL’s unwavering commitment to developing its positioning and the quality of its services in the Kingdom’s strategically significant cities. This initiative supports the process of linking airports and fostering integrated efforts among various entities in the aviation and logistics sectors, ensuring we provide the best air cargo services and solutions within the Kingdom’s airports. Our goal is to transform the Kingdom into a global logistics hub connecting the continents of the world."

Engineer Sufyan Abdul Salam, CEO of Tibah Airports, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, saying, "The development and rehabilitation of the new air cargo building will significantly enhance handling services for various goods and increase the operational movement of air cargo. This will create a qualitative shift in the logistical capabilities at Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport. Tibah Airports is dedicated to achieving the objectives of the National Civil Aviation Strategy, contributing to the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 of becoming a global logistics hub."
