SAL Logistics Services Company and Riyadh Airports Company have announced the signing of an investment contract valued at up to one billion riyals. The contract aims to rent, develop, rehabilitate, and maintain air cargo facilities at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh. This strategic agreement, signed during the Future of Aviation Conference, marks a significant milestone in advancing Saudi Arabia’s logistics and aviation sectors.
The contract, which extends until 2044, focuses on the comprehensive development of air cargo stations at King Khalid International Airport. The primary objectives include increasing cargo capacity and creating advanced, smart facilities that align with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030. This initiative seeks to enhance air freight volumes and elevate the standard of logistics services across the Kingdom.
Under the agreement, SAL will invest significantly in the infrastructure at the airport, upgrading the air cargo facilities with the latest equipment and technologies in ground handling. These enhancements are designed to ensure compliance with the best international practices, significantly boosting the airport’s cargo capacity and strengthening its role as a central hub for air freight in the region. The development will also feature the creation of smart facilities aimed at streamlining operations and improving the overall customer experience.
The agreement was signed by Mr. Faisal Al-Bedah, MD and CEO of SAL, and Mr. Ayman AboAbah, CEO of Riyadh Airports Company. Commenting on the partnership, Mr. Al-Bedah emphasized that the signing of this agreement highlights SAL’s commitment to advancing their services and infrastructure in Riyadh, thereby enhancing the connectivity of the Kingdom's airports. He noted that this initiative supports Saudi Arabia’s ambition to become a global logistics hub, linking continents worldwide.
Mr. AboAbah expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating that the agreement with SAL, a leading national company in logistics services, is a significant step towards achieving the goals of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030.
